Yekaterinburg was not chosen by accident as the permanent location of the exhibition, since historically and geographically the Urals have served as Russia's foundation for valuable ores and minerals, truly, a unique treasury of gems. In our region, there are rich deposits of emeralds and diamonds, iron, copper, and nickel, decorative and building stones.

Out of the four thousand minerals known to man, a good quarter are found in the Urals.
